Family Planning
The Russell County Health Department offers a variety of Family Planning Services. We believe abstinence is the safest form of birth control, but do promote other methods as well. We offer various methods of birth control that are either free to the public or can be bought at a discounted price (based on income). Practicing safe sex can allow for a healthier community through preventing Sexually Transmitted Diseases as well as Teen Pregnancy. You can also see if you qualify for the Early Detection Works program. Our Family Planning Clinic is held on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 1pm to 5pm. Call our office if you have any question or to make an appointment to see Tyrel Somers MD.
If you are interested in becoming a licensed, group, preschool, or childcare center, please call or come to the Russell County Health Department. Your local surveyor Candi Wagner can help instruct you on the latest KDHE requirements for obtaining a license for any type of child care facility. Also, if you are a parent looking for childcare openings in Russell County, please call the ChildCare Aware office at 877-678-2548.
